Gibson Les Paul Traditional

The Les Paul Traditional Electric Guitar got its name because Gibson gave it all the traditional features you expect from a Les Paul: mahogany body and set neck with rounded '50s profile, maple top, and a pair of Gibson's '57 Classic humbucker pickups. One significant, yet not-so-traditional improvement the neck has been Plek'd on Gibson's Plek machine. The neck and frets are analyzed by a computer-controlled robot and then the frets are filed to an accuracy of a hundredth of a millimeter for optimal action and intonation without string buzzing.

Gibson Robot Les Paul Studio in Purple Metallic

The Robot is Back! Extremely Limited Edition!

The Robot Les Paul Studio is an electric guitar that offers all the power, tone, and performance of a traditional LP Studio model, with the addition of the revolutionary Robot automatic tuning system.

Gibson's Robot Guitar, the world's first guitar with robotic tuning technology is available once again. You don't have to tune up your car every time you drive it. Now you don't have to tune up your guitar every time you play it. The Robot Guitar does it for you. Just plug it in, dial in the tuning, strum the strings, and play.

The self-tuning system is built into a gorgeous Gibson Les Paul Studio guitar without changing its looks. All the sound and playability that have made the LP one of the most successful electric guitars of all time are retained. To tune itself, the Robot Guitar uses an onboard central processing unit (CPU) that analyzes the pitch of each string as detected by the Tune-Control bridge. Tuning information from the CPU is relayed to the motorized tuning machines that efficiently adjust each string to the correct pitch with a distinctive whirring sound that lets you know Robot Guitar is on the job.

You activate the Gibson Les Paul Robot Guitar with the Master Control Knob (MCK) that functions as a tone control in the down position and is pulled up to activate the tuning system. In addition to standard (A-440Hz) tuning, six commonly used tunings are selectable from the MCK. Users can also program their own custom tunings as well as set the guitar's intonation. Now, with the Gibson Robot Guitar, you'll spend more time playing in tune. In live performance you can easily change tunings practically soundlessly on the fly, keeping your show flowing smoothly. There's no longer any need to haul several instruments to the gig to cover various tunings; The Robot does it all for you!

The Robot Les Paul Studio Ltd. has a chambered mahogany body with maple top and nitrocellulose finish. The mahogany neck is hand-shaped into a rounded 50s profile and is topped with an ebony fretboard. A Gibson 490R humbucker with Alnico II magnets in the neck position and 498T humbucker with Alnico V magnets in the bridge position provide that Patent Applied For sound. Four-conductor wiring allows connection of a push/pull pot for coil-splitting. Wax potting reduces the chances of microphonic feedback. The performance-safeguarding Neutrik jack secures the cord into the guitar.

Jimmy Page Les Paul Custom

Musician’s Friend is offering a limited number of the new Gibson Custom Shop Jimmy Page Les Paul Custom guitars. These are meticulous re-creations of Jimmy’s original three-pickup 1960 Black Beauty with a Bigsby tailpiece.

Missing in action
Jimmy Page calls his original 1960 Les Paul Black Beauty "the one that got away." He used his Custom in the early days of Led Zeppelin but it was stolen at an airport in 1970 never to be seen again—until now.

The Black Beauty is back
Now Jimmy’s cherished Black Beauty is back. Gibson has lovingly re-created Page’s lost axe in the form of the new Gibson Custom Shop Jimmy Page Les Paul Custom. Its artisans have restored Page’s lost gem by creating two new limited-edition VOS (Vintage Original Spec) versions of the Jimmy Page Les Paul Custom—one with a Bigsby tailpiece, the other with a stoptail. Both come with a special Gibson Custom Shop case with silkscreen JP signature Certificate of Authenticity.

VOS treatment
Each of the Jimmy Page Les Paul Custom guitars is given the special VOS treatment by the Gibson Custom Shop. The guitar is handcrafted for comfort and playability. The construction, hardware, and electronics are period accurate and a special nitrocellulose finish treatment gives it the patina of a gently aged vintage guitar.

The result is a stunning Black Beauty with a slim-profile neck, Page BurstBucker pickups, and a gold Bigsby vibrato. Newly added is an innovative six-position toggle that lets you isolate the neck and bridge pickups or add the middle in any combination. A push/pull switch splits the bridge humbucker into a single-coil—a Jimmy Page signature sound. A stop tailpiece version is also available.

Limited to just 500 guitars worldwide, the Gibson Custom Shop Jimmy Page Les Paul Custom is Gibson’s heartfelt tribute to a true legend and to the guitar he loved and lost. Don’t miss out on your chance—quantities are extremely limited!

Gibson Custom Shop 1968 Les Paul Custom Chambered

The dual benefits of a lighter body and more resonance are achieved by the craftsmen at the Gibson Custom Shop by strategic placement of the chambers that are routed from the mahogany back. The result is a Les Paul that is not only easier on the shoulders so you can play all night long, but is actually louder, with more sustain.

The guitar's '57 Classic humbuckers output the smoothest, richest tone of any of the Gibson pickups.

the 1968 Les Paul Custom has long been a favorite of players and collectors with its distinctive style and long list of appointments. At top of the list is the soothing Antique Pelham Blue finish that actually looks green because it has been yellowed by the Gibson Custom Shop's antiquing treatment. Add to that the trademark split diamond headstock inlay and lavishly bound body.

Gibson's Custom Shop produces some of the finest electric guitars on earth. Using the best materials money can buy, a staff of skilled luthiers reproduce some of the greatest Gibsons of the past and create stunning new instruments for players and collectors who demand the best.
